New Patients
We welcome new patients to our practice. The initial appointment in our office is a thorough and comprehensive dental exam with either Dr. Melinda Chan or Dr. Audrey Peterson, giving you time with the doctor to discuss your concerns and desired treatment outcomes, and review any questions you have about dental care.
Please be aware that with Dr. Caroline Peterson’s recent retirement, our ability to see new patients has been impacted and we are only taking new patients on a very limited basis at this time. Do not hesitate to call for further information and to inquire about our waitlist.
What To Expect at Your First Visit
At this visit, we:
Review your medical and dental history
Take any necessary photos, digital x-rays, diagnostic models
Perform an oral cancer screening
Evaluate your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and your bite
Evaluate gum health
Evaluate health of the teeth
We use these initial dental findings to create treatment recommendations for your specific oral needs and discuss a personalized dental preventative health plan. Questions about insurance processing and fees will also be answered during this initial visit. Plan on at least an hour for this thorough exam
Insurance & Fees
Many patients have dental insurance and we understand the plans can be confusing. We urge our patients to become familiar with their unique dental benefits plan and we are available to offer guidance and answer questions to the best of our ability.
We accept insurance plans that are considered PPO, allowing a patient to choose their own dentist. We may be considered “out-of-network” which means that your benefit levels and co-payments could be affected, so please check with your insurance for coverage details related to those possible limitations. We are not “in-network” with any dental plans currently.
Prior to any treatment, we can provide you an estimate of what we expect your insurance plan to cover and at the time of treatment, we will submit the insurance claim on your behalf.
